OCR Level 1 National Certificate in Health and Social Care [more.....] The OCR Nationals suite of qualifications provides candidates with high quality, industry-recognised awards geared to the specific requirements of key sectors. They are vocationally –related qualifications that provide valuable opportunities for individuals to develop skills and gain underpinning knowledge and understanding which will support entry into work or progression to further studies through  Further Education or Higher Education. The OCR Nationals are attractive, practically-based qualifications intended to stimulate and interest candidates. Level 1 National First award in HSC: Entry requirement; To formal entry requirements for this qualification. To achieve this qualification, candidates must complete a total of FOUR mandatory unites.Units to cover the mandatory units: 1 Working as a team in Health and Social Care. 2 Investigating health and Social Care provision. 3 Introducing practical caring. 4 Investigating options for work in health and social care. 5 Communication skills in Health and Social care. 6 Problem solving in health and Social care.

NVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care– Adult and Children and Young People 05548/05549[more.....] An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is a qualification, which assesses someone’s competence (that is the skills, knowledge and understanding they have) in a work situation. NVQs are based on national occupational standards, that describe the level and breadth of performance that is expected of individuals whose work involves Health and  Social Care practices. This NVQ is based on the national occupational standards developed by Skills for Health, Skills for Care (TOPSS),

To achieve this in either for adult or young people candidates must complete 8 units made up of 4 core units and 4 optional units (including choice of the specialist units/route) Candidates can also undertake additional units, although these are not to complete the qualification.  Like all NVQs these qualifications are competent based. This means that it is linked to a person’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environments

· Take responsibility of continuing professional development of self and others

For Children and Young people route: Develop practice which promotes the involvement, well-being and protection of children and young people.

Adult Route: Develop practices which promotes choice, well-being and protection of all individuals. Optional units: select 4 units from any of the optional groups.

Children and Young People Specific Optional Units:

· Independently represent and advocate with, and on behalf of, children and young people

· Help parents and Carers to acquire and use skills to protect and take care of children and young people

· Demonstrate a style of leadership that ensures an organisational culture of open and participatory management and practice

City & Guilds Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Well-being This qualification have been designed to combine the development of knowledge, understanding  and skills in a variety of vocational areas, equip the individual with a flexible programme of study which will provide the relevant level of knowledge and skills that are needed in the world of work met the needs of health care sector. This will provide a progression onto the second year of related foundation or Honours degree also offers candidates an up to date, dynamic programme, introducing key development areas at Assistant Practitioner level.
 Entry requirements
City & Guilds Higher Level Qualifications have been designed primarily for those in work, or with access to work experience as the specifications are vocationally relevant to the needs of the sector. In addition, given the high level of understanding and skills required of the qualification, it is likely that in order for prospective candidates to cope with the demands of the programme and achieve their full potential, they will have acquired one of the following:
• S/NVQ in Care at Level 3
• S/NVQ in Health & Social Care at Level 3
A level of expertise commensurate with Level 3 in the National Qualifications. Framework which has been acquired through work experience and can be demonstrated through an APL procedure. In addition, prospective candidates should demonstrate that they are sufficiently mature, capable and motivated to meet the requirements of the programme and should be able to provide evidence of a range of relevantpractical skills.

BTEC HND in Health and Social Care: [More.....] The BETEC Higher National Diploma is a specialist vocational programme with a strong work related emphasis. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical What are the entry requirements?

You will normally need to have at least one of the following:
a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in an appropriate area
an AVCE/GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
a GCE A Level profile which demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at level A-C other related Level 3 qualifications
an Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution related work experience.

More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector. What is the course structure?
The course is made up of ten units – seven core units, which everyone takes, and three specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth, and there is opportunity to follow a clear specialist pathway.  These specialist pathways are recognised in the following endorsed qualification titles:

OCR ASSESSOR AND VERIFIER AWARDS A1 [more.....] OCR Level 3 Award in Assessing candidates Using a range of methods 3435, 3434 and  Level 4 Award in conducting Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process 3439. An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is a qualification that assesses someone’s competence (the skills, knowledge and understanding they have) in a work situation. NVQs are based on standards (national occupational standards). The standards describe the level and breadth of performance that is expected of anyone working in the sector which the NVQ covers. These occupational qualifications consist of single units from the standards developed by the Employment NTO, the government-approved standard setting body for the learning and development sector at the time. These qualifications have been accepted by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for inclusion in the National Qualifications Framework  (NQF).
 WHO ARE THESE QUALIFICATIONS FOR?The OCR assessor and verifier awards are work-oriented and are suitable for those who have real work experience. They are open to candidates of any age, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on grounds of race, creed or previous academic attainment or learning. Candidates are expected to have sufficient standards of communication and number skills to carry out the work described in the standards.
 The OCR Level 3 award in assessing candidates using a range of methods is suitable for those who assess NVQ candidates using a wide range of assessment methods.

 They will be:

• Developing plans for assessing competence with NVQ candidates

• Judging evidence against NVQ criteria to make assessment decisions

• Providing feedback and support to NVQ candidates on assessment decisions

· Contributing to the internal quality assurance process within NVQ Centres

 The OCR Level 3 Award in Assessing candidates’ performance Through Observation is suitable for those who assess NVQ candidates using observation. They will be:

• Agreeing and reviewing plans for assessing NVQ candidates’ performance

• Assessing candidates’ performance against the agreed standards

• Assessing candidates’ knowledge against the agreed standards

· Making assessment decisions and providing feedback

The OCR Level 4 Award in Conducting Internal QualityAssurance of the Assessment Process is suitable for those who internally verify the NVQ assessment Process. They will be:

• Carrying out and evaluating internal NVQ assessment and quality assurance systems

• Supporting NVQ assessors

• Monitoring the quality of NVQ assessor performance

· Meeting external quality assurance requirements
